LOOKOUT at the LOOKOUT location...

For those who ABSOLUTELY NEED THEIR CELL - DON'T GO into the hood...a few withdrawals were occuring while I was just enjoying all that the FABULOUS HOST - DAVID Ostrander provided in his elegantly (my style) of clean european retro well I could go on!!! Okay except the stairs are a bit toooo many...started heading up them at 9:00ish - and I think I made it by midnight.

But lets' start with the SUSHI, the wine, the PEOPLE!!! OKAY - you know who you are!!! Michael / John / Kevin /Naomi !!! TOO MUCH FUN - AND TOO FUNNY!!! NO REGRETS!!!

Now David is the smart one - he's THE ONLY host who actually looks after his guests!!! David you can host our next event down here...


CATCHING A CAB....well that's another story...(but hey we always find our way home...somehow)...

Howard had a bit of a drive to get back to Newport Beach...so I think Midnight ish, was his departure - the rest - we're not telling!!!

The Liberace Party....

Soooo that was cool - being in the suite that Liberace used to live in...on the deck - but NOT FOR LONG!!! THE WIND/ THE COLD - hey I could be back in Vancouver or Monique in Montreal for this kinda treatment!!! Howard just thinks we're winers (well I prefer that over a beer)...but really - when the tenting starts to fly up / over - we gotta think we're in Kansas!!! I'm small and I need to be anchored.

BUT what a great event - I wondered how the Kama Sutra people were going to handle things (*well why wouldn't I wonder) but it was all product related - so that was far less embarrassing for all!!!

Although I think Monique got special instructions, (and extra goodies) so I'm not really looking forward to any follow up details...just makes me sound boring!!!

Howard - he's a butter guy!!!

Neve Campbell and her brother, along with Kelly BIG G - and Arthur Roberts were there to name a few.

However Arthur got whisked away by his manager (what a party pooper) to head to another event!!!!

THE FIREPLACE WAS A WELCOME item...so hung there for a bit of a warm-up!!!

Before the next event - we had to get changed and out of our sandals into SWEATERS!!!

Well - it was bound to happen!!!

I am now officially BEAUTIFUL!!! But not more than Monique or Howard (just to get that out of the way)...

The spa treatments, nails (and lashes)... (well not the lashes for Howard)...but we looked marhvelous, and lot's to see and do.

WELL yesterday was somewhat Fabulous...

Peter Foldy and Monique at SWINGERS (it's a restaurant you guys!!!) Cafe on Beverly Drive(reallllly close to our hotel and the CBS Studio)...

Both Monique and Howard and Peter Foldy (coming out with a re-release of BONDI JUNCTION with a few new songs) got to mix and mingle - LOTS of pics...


IT RAINED - and apparently no one knows how to drive when it does...so our 20 minute return from Santa Monica - well it was closer to two hours...

In the limo with Howard pointing out all the great sites/locations/ etc...it seemed not that long. THEN once we 'unloaded our FAB items' (they weighed more than me in one bag)...it was off to dinner at a place on Sunset Strip. A really great meal matched with just the right Savignon Blanc - made for a nice-winding down to prepare for today.

For those out of the loop - I drop kicked my cell, coming down here - (NOT ON PURPOSE)...so am a little hampered in my efforts!!!

Another Avid Athlete!!!

Russell Yuen will be joining his Montreal co-hort Monique and Howard, to participate in the festivities!!! Russell has had a VERY VERY BUSY December wrapping about 3 films in Montreal and Toronto which have yet to appear on the IMDB boards...

He has been a long time client of Translucent Publicity, since we first met in Toronto, while we were promoting several of the actors of Long Life Happiness & Prosperity. Russell was the "love interest" of Sandra Oh!!!! OH - but that wasn't the first time. Seems he and Sandra have played those roles in previous films!!!

100 YEARS OLD!!!

Not ME SILLY!!! But on Wednesday night Birks is still looking as contemporary and spry as ever celebrating 100 years of living in Vancouver.

Celebrating with Birks was Count Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera, Tony Cavelti and Thomas Andrewskevitch amid a storm of photographers and media, including Vancities Malcolm Parry and Joy Metcalfe.

The Champagne, the fabulous appetisers and the party-goers, ensured that we all enjoyed ourselves in celebrating this milestone!!!

Announcing their participation as a supplier to the 2010 Olympics simply added the cherry on top of the frosting!!!

Congratulations Birks!!!

Sunday Sunday...

Well the final push for the Gift Basket Draws from Tilly's Galley, and just meeting a bunch of great people, took up the remainder of the day. Saying goodbye to new and old friends rushing to catch the ferry's later in the day, after participating in some good panels.


Panels in the am included the Andrew Currie/Dir/Writer et al of FIDO, JUST flew in from FRANCE to participate!!! Tink and Ross rounded out the "BUILDING CHARACTER" panel, while over at Publicity 101 our Leri Davies, Shelley N, and Marla Lewin Halperin demonstrated what needs to be done to ensure that all the SWEAT EQUITY gets some pay back.

In fact we have come to realize that most producers/directors et al - do not understand the role of publicity, and rather than "an expense to the bottom line" - we should be considered revenue generators AND included in the WHOLE PROCESS FROM BEGINNING TO END!!! Stay tuned for more information on how Translucent can help you look at the process from the big expansiveness that Publicity is, rather than piecing it out based on budgets!!!

A new view to solve an age old problem - BENEFITS - reducing costs, reducing training time, reducing angst. AND THAT's worth something!!!


This year the VIFVF seemed to be a larger yet largely BC driven event - with some major star profile - this I believe is what will build the anticipation for them next year!!!

Kathy and Randy always look after the filmakers, and this year was no different.

The hospitality suite is a hopping...FIDO has their screening tonight (SOLDOUT OF COURSE), and competing head on with that is the FABULOUS DAVID FOSTER, Film Retrospective, hosted by Terry David Mulligan!!! (THAT TOO WAS SOLD OUT CAPACITY)!!!

The before's and after parties had everyone celebrating to the wee hours...OUR last night and we were lovin every minute of it!!!

Sayonara to Erin Cebula - ET CANADA, as they were off to get some more something somewhere!!! Me - it's LOVE THE ONE YOUR WITH!!!

Well - a great (YET ANOTHER) FERRY TRIP IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT!!! This time (AGAIN) over to Vancouver Island...Weather was great...not toooo cold/rainy etc!!!

Checked into my friends apartment - got settled in then OFF TO THE EMPRESS!!!

A quick glass of wine (okay maybe two - we were there awhile) catching up with all - the likes of the FABULOUS VICKI GABEREAU - HOST EXTRA-ORDINAIRE, TOM ROWE, in charge of the upcoming TIN MAN (never mind all that's on his plate), our dear friends from LA - Marc Halperin and Marla Lewin Halperin, GORDON PINSENT representing AWAY FROM HER, NFB rep and AWARD winner Selwyn Jacob (and for Selwyn's sake, whatever you do - don't add an S to it), Gary Marcuse, CBC, okay I'm going to cut it short on this one!!!

Next up was the SEQUIN GALA...notice the 'special' laniard.



Michael Reid - Columnist, where Friday's column was in the VANSUN expounding the virtues of the VIFVF with expected guests such as DAVID FOSTER - who's night was SATURDAY NIGHT, A TRIBUTE to him and all of his film victories...
