Returned to YVR...on 9/11

YES on the most auspicious date of 9/11, I was on the very early morning (never to be repeated and MANY will not believe I actually did)...7:30am AC flight YYZ/YVR.

It was interesting to note that there were not many travelling (either at that time of day) OR in respecting the event just SEVEN short years ago, but still fresh in everyone's memory.

I remember receiving a call from my former business associates friend, very early in the day, as he was scheduled to leave for NY the very next day. ALSO on that day, MIRAMAX had been scheduled to meet later in am in one of the towers to determine the release date of QUIET AMERICAN - starring Michael Caine and TZI MA...

Obviously neither event happened. My business partner and I decided to sell off our company, AND MIRAMAX delayed the release of QA and entered the film the following year at TIFF.

I remember (along with TZI MA) attending the screening with the late Sidney Pollack in attendance (as well as Michael Caine), AND Danny Glover sat right next to us in the Theatre.



Co-incidentally their screening was days apart from Long, Life, Happiness & Prosperity (starring SANDRA OH & RUSSELL YUEN) which according to my sources at Shaftesbury, is gaining a resurgence of sorts. We were fortunate to have FIVE clients in that one film alone (I think a record of sorts).

A moment of silence for those lost to the terrorist act that will forever be remembered.

ONCE AGAIN IT'S RAINING!!! Well at least there was no THUNDER OR LIGHTNING!!!

But TONIGHT it's ET Canada's birthday party - so should be spectacular!!!

Canadian Walk of FAME...

BRYAN ADAMS - WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??? I have never seen anyone walk by a media line soooooo freeakin fast - EVEN PAST ET CANADA - although I'm sure they have enough footage of you and will probably have a one on one later - but REALLY!!!

So here I am with my able bodied camera crew and host (with the most)...so I GO CHARGING UP THE CARPET AROUND THE CORNER AND at the head of the pack - go SNAP, SNAP SNAP!!! So I'll upload YOU LATER MISTER!!!

NEW ORLEANS

So Life is just grand isn't it??? I of course while in TO ALWAYS (well when possible) stay with my family who hail from Mississauga. So being the GREEN person that I am - I do transit (and I must say I do it rather well!!!)...

Now I'm Leaving Norms's MUDBATH - (OOPS I MEANT BBQ!!!) and just minding my own bizness (REALLY I WAS)...

I'm nearing the end of the Mississauga route, when the fellow in front of me - turns to the guy across the aisle and asks him a question. The guy across the aisle says to him - you should ask HER!!! And remember I don't know what the question is, I don't LIVE HERE, and well you get the jist.

It just so happens that he wanted to know when his stop would be - which was EXACTLY MY STOP - (NOTE TO KATHERINE - YOU COULD BE ENJOYING ALL THE FUN INSTEAD OF TAKING THOSE CABS)!!!

So we get off - and I went - okay so there's the street you're looking for - AND he says he thinks he knows where he's going now - which is home, but he hasn't been here for a while. So I said well I don't know where you live - but where did you return from??? He says New Orleans, and I said HOLMES ON HOLMES??? And he said YES!!! HE WAS MIKE JR!!! SMALL, SMALL, SMALL WORLD!!!

So we chatted for a bit about the project, and who the house had been built for who sounds like a VERY kind caring and deserving individual and I can't wait to see the episode.

NORM'S MUD BATH...

REALLY you do not need more pictures to demonstrate that the only people that should have been on the lot we're women in very skimpy bikini's...THEN it might have been exciting...

ALWAYS A FUN EVENT - and not to be missed, the GRAND news was the Legacy that Brian Linehan left behind...

STARS in attendance, included HELENE JOY who is nominated for her role as Lead in DURHAM COUNTY, who also stars as the Dr. in Yannick Bisson's MURDOCH MYSTERIES. ENNIS ESMER another nominee for ensemble cast for BILLABLE HOURS, MICHAEL SEATER, LIFE WITH DEREK now in it's fourth season, and of course the fabulous DIRECTOR CARL BESSAI who is blogging for the FIRST WEEKEND CLUB!!!

It's always great to chat to Norm, and of course I would be REMISS if I did not say WHAT A PLEASURE IT WAS TO MEET THE INDIVIDUAL who started TIFF over 30 years ago. Mr. Bill Marshall - you have a LOT TO BE PROUD OF!!! Seen in this picture from last years festival...

HELLO HELLO! MAGAZINE!!! @ BIRKS....

And the stars are out tonight!!!

I LOVE COLIN AND JUSTIN and they were right at home talking with RUSSELL YUEN currently starring (with PIGEONS) in the REITMANS FASHION CAMPAIGN!!!

HELLO (HELLO! AGAIN) FASHION LUVVA's - HAUTE COURTURE ZERO - REITMANS WON!!!

Although Justin was JUST wearing a simple (REALLY) brooch that in itself was fabulous - but JUST NOT JUSTIN...Although he has been known to wear those corsages the size of small trees, he did seema a tad naked - but seemed okay with that!





We were surrounded by the best designer jewels, glass artistry so colourful, it'll take your eye out!!! WE LOVE BIRKS...although I must say - for those who aren't in the know (THE INSIDE SCOOP - AKA THE SKINNY), the VANCOUVER LANDMARK is WAY WAY WAY more impressive in it's ambience, character and design. So now I can say that!!!

PETER MISKIMMIN Director of Development for WHIZBANG Films, whose organization (along with PAUL GROSS) was responsible for the OPENING FILM PASSCHENDALE at TIFF, as well as Producers such as SUNNIE MCFADDEN-CURTIS of BENCHBOY PRODUCTIONS who's film had been accepted at this years REEL WORLD FILM FESTIVAL we're all enjoying the evenings weather on the deck of the PILOT LOUNGE in Yorkville!!!

The RED CARPET WAS JAMMED at the ELGIN THEATRE...Jeremy Piven, Toby Kebbell but the real entertainment was how packed the media side of things were!!!

This years CFTPA Award Winner 'Overall Lifetime Achievement Award' is Rob Merilees of Infinity Features based in Vancouver.

Definitely humbled by his win, Rob had driven all the way from his current production in Detroit to attend this event. Co-Infinity guy Charles Martin Smith was in attendance to goad him on!!!

I'll be uploading pics later on today (in my digital camera...) but have to download as I was unable to get my hands on the Palm Centro, so doing a workaround.

OFF TO E TALK celebrations on the RED CARPET TONIGHT with non-other than P. Diddy (or WHATEVER his name is this week)...hey - MAYBE I'LL BE HIS NEXT ASSISTANT!!! WAIT - NO!!! I WON'T LAST AS HE GOES THROUGH ASSISTANTS LIKE MAYBE AS OFTEN AS HE CHANGES HIS SEAN JEAN UNDIES!!!
