Over his career, digital technology pioneer Brian Hammond has forged a reputation for innovation,
excellence and creativity. One of the driving forces behind Vancouver's emergence as a potential centre of
post-production excellence, he has spearheaded the rapid expansion and escalating revenues of several
companies.
Hammond has always stood at the forefront in identifying, then adapting, changing technologies. A hand's
on, pragmatic and creative problem solver, he is a Ryerson alumnus who started in sound editing before
moving into production as a camera operator, director, technical director and producer. In the late 1980s he
helped create Northwest FX (formally Northwest Communications) and oversaw huge revenue growth
before creating his own company, Pilot-West Productions. PWP grew to be the largest Avid offline rental
house in Western Canada, serving clients around North America and internationally. Post-Digital Works,
an affiliated company, offered full post-production services, including visual effects, for television and
film.
Hammond maintains a solid roster of clients who have followed him over the years. Projects and clients
currently on the Shaman slate include NHK, Crescent Productions, the feature film Partition, the
documentary "Cracking Up" and Atmosphere VFX.
"Clients," comments Hammond, "say it feels like their projects have found a home, and in some ways, that
is the same for me"
